My Opinion
Personally, I attended public school for my whole life. Positives that I found was that you were able to participate in a lot of activities, attend sporting events, and get to interact with different kinds of people. My school had clubs such as debate team, chess club, fencing club, and many others. Through all of the clubs there was pretty much something for everyone. My school also had plenty of sport teams that we were able to try out for. Next, all of the students were able to support there school by attending sports games. The most popular teams to watch at my school were football and lacrosse. Lastly, my school had a graduating class of 600, so there were tons of people to mingle with. Going to a public school allows you to meet a lot of people that you wouldn't come across if you were home schooled.
Although there are positives of going to a public school, there are also negatives. First is that it is difficult to get one on one help with the teacher. Most teachers offer extra help after school, but there would still be other classmates there. If necessary a student could get a private tutor, but those tend to be expensive. Second, there are strict dress codes at public schools. In my middle school we couldn't wear sandals before the first day of spring and we had to wear shorts longer than our finger tips. Lastly, there are stricter time frames. If a student were to miss over nine days in a semester, they would face the probability of not passing those courses. Through homeschooling the student could get the work done in however long they need since they can work on weekends or late at night.
