Freedoms of Homeschooling
Educational Freedom
Through homeschooling students are able to have more educational freedom. The pupil and teacher are able to decide on how long they will spend focusing on each subject and how in depth they will go. By doing this students can improve their test scores since they can take as long as they need to fully understand a specific subject. Students also won't be slowed down having to wait for all of the other students to understand a topic that already is clear to them. All of the basics are still covered, it is just up to them and their parents to decide.
Physical Freedom
Physical freedom is a positive towards the parents. Families that partake in homeschooling no longer have to depend on school calendars, instead they can choose which days to have school. This pro makes it easy for families to still work or even go on vacations. If the parent and child want to go on a field trip they can do so whenever they please, in a public school the class would have to get the field trip approved and to plan for it in advance. Physical freedom can play a roll if the child tends to get sick a lot. Instead of just missing school, they can make it up at anytime when they feel up to it. If the student were to miss a day of public school there would be no way for them to relive that class.
Emotional Freedom
In some cases of public schooling, students can find themselves fighting peer pressure or struggling to fit in. These things can sometimes even cause bullying. By working at home the child is in a safe environment where they are free to be themselves without anyone else around to judge them. Also, if students are going through a tough time they can take time off from their learning and relax. Homeschooling gives the student a much more calm environment. This type of environment can give the student the focus they need to concentrate more on their studies and less on other student's opinions.
Religious Freedom
Religion can sometimes be a very important factor in children's everyday lives. Homeschooling makes it easy for families to teach their kids subjects from their religion's point of view. Also, some religions call for extra time out of the day to practice their prayer. If a student is in a public school they may not be able to take the time to practice their religion. Religious freedom is the most common reason behind why parents decide to homeschool their children.
